No other band in the German gothic/industrial scene is so shrouded in legend and rumour as WEENA MORLOCH. While recording their bloodcurdling debut album ‘Kunst-X=?’, the band based around SAMSAS TRAUM mastermind ALEXANDER KASCHTE caused a fire in the studio. The iconic and likewise long since sold out follow-up ‘Kadaverkomplex’, which commands astronomical sums on eBay, appeared a few days before the school massacre in Erfurt, Germany and yet due to the megahit ‘Kugel im Gesicht (9mm)’ (English translation: ‘Bullet in the face (9mm)’) appeared briefly in the charts and was (mis)used by ResistantX, who carried out a shooting spree in Emsdetten, in the soundtrack to his violent videos.
The ear-splitting album ‘Epanalepsis’, which was much loved in Merzbow circles, appeared as part of the limited edition SAMSAS TRAUM DVD box set ‘Einer gegen alle’ and thus vanished into the eternal pit of noise. And you can could only hear the band’s EPs by visiting one of WEENA MORLOCH’s rare improvisation concerts or by seeking out the recordings on the internet with the aid of a microscope.
